The commitment of CIHEAM Bari on gender equality issues has been recognized and certified by CSQA, which awarded the certification of conformity to UNI/PdR 125 to the Italian headquarters of the international organisation.
Founded in 1962, the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) is a Mediterranean intergovernmental organization made up of 13 member countries (Albania, Algeria, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey).
It operates through its 4 Institutes based in Bari (Italy), Chania (Greece), Montpellier (France), Zaragoza (Spain), and its headquarters in Paris .
With this certification CIHEAM Bari wanted to make a significant contribution towards achieving gender equity also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations 2030 Agenda (SDG) and, in particular, on Gender Equality ( SDG 5) and on the reduction of inequalities (SDG 10).

The certification, officially delivered by Michele Zema , CSQA Sales Manager, was released on the basis of the evaluation of six indicator areas:

The certification recognized the concrete measures adopted and aimed at promoting an organizational culture and a work environment that is inclusive and respectful of equal opportunities , including the development of female leadership skills, professional growth and gender balance in promotions. to managerial and managerial roles.
For the implementation of the management system for gender equality, CIHEAM Bari has equipped itself with a Steering Committee for Gender Equality with consultancy and monitoring functions.
Furthermore, CIHEAM Bari has been promoting gender issues for some time now, participating in numerous international cooperation projects in the field of female empowerment.
The certification obtained will therefore allow us to strengthen, also in favor of its numerous stakeholders, the commitment to overcoming the gender gap through the promotion of initiatives and activities such as the diffusion of a gender culture - raising awareness of the use of an inclusive language -, zero tolerance towards any form of gender harassment, the support of talents in STEM disciplines in the world of work, the enhancement of digital skills in the agri-food sector.
