The recently redeveloped "naTUra" community forest was inaugurated in Malborghetto-Valbruna (Udine) , which was awarded the "sustainable forest management" certificate for complying with the PEFC ITA 1000:2015 and PEFC ITA 1001:2015 standards.
The certification was delivered by Alessia Vedovato, consultant for PEFC Italia : «The certification represents the goal of a path that led to the analysis of different criteria – explained the consultant – among these, the maintenance and improvement of forest resources, of the faunal and floral ecosystem, of the defense of the soil and water, but also of the development of the economic ecosystem in an area, such as that of the Tarvisio forest, where there are numerous mountain huts and refuges that can benefit from the certification obtained from the forest of community".
The certificate was issued by the independent body CSQA. The Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) , i.e. the "Programme for the evaluation of forest certification schemes" was established in Europe in 1999, following the Rio conference in 1992 , PEFC Italia ensures that forests are managed in line with stringent environmental, social and economic requirements.
