The latest recognition is the Zero Waste certification issued by Aenor, an international certification body recognized in over 90 countries, for the effective management of waste , with a valorization of over 97%. It follows, also for 2024, that of Sustainability Leader , the survey promoted by Statista, in collaboration with Il Sole 24 Ore, which considers 40 indicators divided into three categories: environmental, economic and social (there are 240 Italian companies that have obtained the recognition, of which only 12 in the food & beverage sector).
Oleificio Zucchi was a pioneer in terms of sustainability; suffice it to say that the first report on the matter dates back to 2005.
“We started from the bottom, from the product: in 2017 we came out with a specification certified by Csqa with 150 requirements, including biodiversity, water consumption, soil, air: they thought we were crazy” says CEO Alessia Zucchi .
With the sustainability certification specification for the entire extra virgin olive oil supply chain , guaranteed by Csqa , Oleificio Zucchi has ensured for its certified oils, in Italy and in Europe , a transparent and traceable supply chain at every stage, based on respect for the environment, fair economic recognition of work and workers' rights.
The journey has never stopped and, thanks to a scientific committee promoted by Oleificio Zucchi , last year it led to the drafting of a document, made available to Masaf and at the service of the sector: Guidelines for the evaluation and communication of the sustainability of Italian olive oils .
And again: this year Oleificio Zucchi was the first company in the agri-food sector to achieve the Made Green in Italy certification promoted by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security with Zucchi 100% Italian Sustainable EVO Oil.
