CSQA from today controls, in the heart of the Romagna Apennines, the first PDO oil of Italy.
PDO Presidium since 1996, Brisighella PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oil is obtained from the fruits of the Olea europaea L. species, Nostrana di Brisighella variety, coming from the territory of some municipalities in the provinces of Ravenna and Forlì-Cesena.
"Our Certification model" says the Honorary President of the PDO Oil Consortium of Brisighella Franco Spada "started almost 20 years before the Community Legislation (Regulation 2081 of 1992) which introduced the Protected Designation of Origin, with the decision to independently notarial self-certification: as early as 1975 we set up a precise production regulation, with numbering of all bottles, checks and tracking.
Thus, when the PDO Certification arrived in 1992 with the Community Regulation, at that point we already had a private Certification for more than 20 years and good visibility. This is how a small production, but with a rich history of reviews and self-certifications became among the top 5 Protected Designations of Origin in Italy."
"What drives all of this is and always has been passion ," concludes Spada. "After all, everything comes from wineries and fruit farms where the olive tree was considered a complementary crop for family use, always followed with affection, to bring good oil to your table. Then came the media and the reviews to make us understand that it was worth bringing this oil to the tables of others as well." (Source : https://www.brisighelladop.it /)
