An important result for the Group for sustainable forest management of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which has obtained confirmation of the PEFC certification of the forests for the 61 entities it represents, with a total of over 93 thousand hectares, which places the regional mountain territory in third place overall in Italy, behind only the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano and ahead of Liguria, Veneto, Lombardy and Piedmont.
From the administration of the fractional assets of Pesariis, to the Municipality of Gemona, that is the first and most recent in order of membership, passing through dozens of Municipalities, Consortia and the Region itself, which with over 10 thousand hectares is the owner of the largest surface area, the members of the Group are owners or managers of forests in the territory of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, ordinary members or supporting members of Uncem (National Union of Municipalities, Communities and Mountain Entities). The Group has grown over time and has reached, in fact, 61 members with the recent entry of the Municipalities of Gemona and Tarvisio.
The certification was issued by CSQA Certificazioni , the accredited third-party body that conducted the audits for the evaluation of forest management, which will be valid for the five-year period 2024-2029, continuing what was already achieved from 2019 to 2024, with the management of an initiative started and recognized since 2004.
