Calabrian excellence changes and entrusts controls to CSQA, the leading certification body in Italy with 68 Geographical Indications
With Ministerial Decree dated 29 January 2021, Mipaaf authorized CSQA Certificazioni to carry out checks for the protected geographical indication Cipolla Rossa di Tropea Calabria .
A new card to support the quality chains of Calabria which counts 38 PDO PGI agri-food and wine products in the regional territory, a heritage, according to the data of the Ismea-Qualivita 2020 Report, from 46 million euros to production involving about 1,700 operators .
The Red Onion of Tropea Calabria PGI is a symbolic product of the region and, growing in recent years, represents the main Calabrian agri-food chain with 21 thousand tons certified PGI , thanks to the work of over 100 operators for a production value close to 11 million euros (Ismea-Qualivita Report 2020).
CSQA's controls on the certified supply chain will concern nurserymen, producers, intermediaries and packers on the basis of the official control plan.
A commitment that confirms, after the opening of the new CSQA headquarters in Calabria, the work to support the development of quality agri-food chains present in the Calabrian territory.
