CSQA has been authorized by the Ministry for Agricultural Policies to carry out checks on a new DOP product, the Cozza di Scardovari, the first recognition in Italy attributed to a mollusc.
The peculiarity of the Bassopolesana mussel is the lower sodium content compared to the other mussels , due to the mixture of salt and fresh water that distinguishes the Po Delta. Furthermore, compared to other molluscs, it appears to have a higher muscle mass content than the average, equal to as much as 25% of its total weight.
