Another great satisfaction for Afor Umbria , which takes home the “Sustainable Forest Communities 2024” award, organized by PEFC Italia (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) – a body promoting the correct and sustainable management of forestry heritage – and by Legambiente.

Promoted in collaboration with ' UNCEM' (National Union of Municipalities and Mountain Communities), ' Nuova Ecologia' and ' Oltreterra' , the award ceremony to Afor – for the “Best Sustainable Forest Management” – took place yesterday (5 November) during Ecomondo 2024 , the international fair dedicated to the green and circular economy, in Rimini until 8 November.

The winning project involved obtaining the PEFC Sustainable Forest Management certification from the Umbria Regional Forestry Agency (AFOR) for some forests in the Monte Subasio Regional Park , which extends between the municipalities of Assisi, Spello, Valtopina and Nocera Umbra.

These include beech forests, holm oak forests, manna ash forests, cypress forests, mixed oak and broadleaf forests, fir forests, pine forests (Aleppo pine, domestic pine and maritime pine), cedar and Douglas fir forests – for a total of 2,313.39 hectares – located in the Monte Subasio Regional State Complex , managed sustainably and certified by CSQA .
