Grana Padano PDO: the first wheel entirely traced in Blockchain
Grana Padano PDO: the first wheel entirely traced in Blockchain The first form of Grana Padano PDO completely traced in Blockchain , number zero from the Torre Pallavicina dairy, was exhibited and visible at the dairy's stand during B2Cheese (25 and 26 September at the Bergamo fair).

CASEFICIO_TORRE_PALLAVICINA_7.jpeg Two years after its official presentation , the project has been completed: the Caseificio Torre Pallavicina , a cooperative that brings together around twenty milk producing companies from Brescia and Bergamo , is the first in Italy to have obtained validation from CSQA for the Blockchain traceability of Grana Padano PDO forms .

Following the audit conducted on June 18, CSQA declared that the Blockchain traceability model implemented by the dairy is fully compliant with the regulatory requirements of the Grana Padano DOP specification and control plan.

The Torre Pallavicina dairy uses Euranet's ChoralChain solution , a software platform based on the public Algorand Blockchain, to automatically and in real time track all phases of the supply chain , from animal feed on farms to milk transport, from internal processing at the dairy to the maturing of the cheeses in the warehouse.

This guarantees end-to-end traceability and tracking of each form of Grana Padano PDO di Torre Pallavicina , through interaction with the dairy's internal information systems, the use of WebApps (Breeders' app and Transporters' app), GPS on tankers to georeference milk movements and a vision technology based on artificial intelligence , capable of reading the casein plate of each form.

The data and events collected along the chain are recorded on an immutable, decentralized, secure and transparent ledger of the Algorand Blockchain , with a transaction that has a certain date and that generates a unique NFT digital certificate .

“This creates a real digital passport – explains Gianmaria Bettoni, president of the Torre Pallavicina dairyto be associated with each individual form of Grana Padano , identified by its own casein plate, through which it is now possible to learn the entire history of a form of Grana Padano produced by the dairy, from the field to the stable up to the maturing and commercial distribution in Italy and abroad.

Among the advantages of the system is the Provenance functionality, which allows you to trace, starting from the casein plate, each form of Grana Padano with the relative time-line , allowing the rapid identification of batches and providing valid support for the protection of consumer food safety".

The concrete implementation of the project was presented at the fair by Bettoni, supported by Gianpaolo Sara, president of Euranet, and Michele Zema, CSQA sales manager.
