A SINGLE NATIONAL STANDARD HAS BEEN ACHIEVED FOR EXPO MILANO 2015
FOR THE SUSTAINABILITY OF WINE
The result of a three-year process coordinated by Federdoc and Unione Italiana Vini, with the support of Gambero Rosso and technical partners such as Valoritalia and CSQA, a standardization company was born to manage the most advanced national and international synthesis of sustainability management models in the wine sector.
EQUALITAS srl was officially established in Rome, with the strategic participation of Federdoc and Unione Italiana Vini, the main representative bodies of the Italian wine production world, to propose and implement a single national program on the sustainability of wine.
And the heart of this proposal will be a regulated and certifiable management system from a third party, able to accompany companies in the continuous improvement of processes and products from an environmental, social and economic point of view and with the continuous support of the academic and research world.
A model capable of affirming its value towards consumers from all over the world thanks to the cohesion and plurality of the subjects involved.
“It is a simple but ambitious step: to be the first wine exporting country and at the same time to establish itself as a leader in proposing a single and transparent model for the management and communication of wine sustainability, modern in its contents and ready to grow the culture of sustainability both among producers and consumers” affirms the new president of EQUALITAS Riccardo Ricci Curbastro.
Aggregation and contents are the result of the journey started within the Wine Sustainability Forum which in its 2014 Report shed light on the current movement, analyzing the numerous existing national programs as well as market trends in terms of sustainability, with broad-spectrum surveys along the supply chain.
Precisely in the final conclusions of the report, an aggregation of interests was hoped for and Expo Milano 2015 represented the objective
time frame and the ideal container in which to cultivate this historic enterprise.
An inclusive path has been undertaken, in which all requests regarding environmental, economic and social sustainability have been accepted. All aimed at providing small and large companies, growers and bottlers organized in the supply chain, a management tool which, from grape production to the bottle, can define the boundaries of sustainability in a clear and transparent way for consumers all over the world, also through a collective brand which will be launched at Vinitaly 2016.
