News and confirmations

National Animal Welfare Plan 2024
National Animal Welfare Plan 2024 The Ministry of Health has published the 2024 National Animal Welfare Plan (PNBA) on its website.

An accompanying note - signed in February this year by the One Health Department Head Giovanni Leonardi - confirms the scheduling of official controls as defined in previous editions of the Plan. The number and distribution of checks to be carried out in the current year were developed by ClassyFarm based on the data provided by Vetinfo-Controlli and are summarized in the "PNBA 2024 Objective Assignment Table".

Farms to check

For the 2024 Plan, the Animal Welfare Working Group (Ministry, Regions and Zooprophylactics) has introduced some changes - detailed in the note from the Head of Department - aimed at optimizing the efficiency of the official control system.

The possibility, introduced with the 2023 Plan, of replacing some types of farms to be controlled among the farms selected by ClassyFarm remains in force; in 2024 the opportunity was added for the Regions to manage those populations of farms of different animal species or categories that are not always distributed homogeneously in the Regions and Local Health Authorities , also avoiding carrying out an unjustified number of inspections, with attribution to the territory of controls according to a rotation principle, in compliance with risk-based and random selection criteria.

Data to CReNBA by January 31, 2025

As regards the 2024 controls, the same distribution as in 2023 is confirmed at the slaughterhouse on batches of broiler chickens .
Data collection must be carried out exclusively via the Excel sheet already provided with the PNBA 2023 . This document must be duly completed and sent by the regional contact with the aggregated data and forwarded in a single solution to the CReNBA by 31 January 2025.
