The Pistacchio di Raffadali DOP obtained the important European recognition in 2021 following in-depth studies and research activities carried out by the promoting committee. A project started in 2016 and based on a very ancient history and tradition.
Since 2021, the Pistacchio di Raffadali has had the DOP and responds to a specific specification. There are 31 municipalities that fall within the specification (29 in the province of Agrigento and two in that of Caltanissetta), for a production that for 50% exceeds regional borders.

Today the Consortium includes 17 companies that certify , 250 hectares of pistachio land, with a 2023 harvest of approximately 15,000 kg . The 2024 vintage (editor's note: harvesting as we write) also proves to be positive, also because the drought, paradoxically, helped growth and quality, thanks to the reduced humidity.
The work of the Consortium for the protection of the product concerns the promotion and dissemination of information related to the product, its use particularly suitable in pastry making, the organization of events, such as the Fastuca Fest (see box) and also the valorization and safety of the product. For example, a QR Code with CSQA certification is being developed, which offers further identification of the product and a guarantee for the consumer.
