The new Regulation (EU) 2023/1442 of 11 July 2023 which amends Annex I of Regulation (EU) no. 10/2011 concerning plastic materials and objects intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, as regards changes to the authorizations of substances and the addition of new substances.

The entry into force of this regulation is August 1, 2023.

The amendment of Annex I of Reg. (EU) n.10/2011 involves the inclusion of new substances that can be used to manufacture plastic materials and objects that are intended to come into contact with food.

It should also be noted that plastic materials and objects compliant with regulation (EU) no. 10/2011 in the version applicable before the entry into force of this regulation which were placed on the market for the first time before 1 February 2025 can remain on the market until stocks run out.

While plastic materials and articles made with salicylic acid or made with untreated wood flour and wood fibers from a specific wood species can continue to be placed on the market for the first time after February 1, 2025, provided certain conditions are met.
