Register of National Associations of Cities of Identity
Register of National Associations of Cities of Identity A new tool to strengthen the link between territory, agriculture and tradition has been introduced with the creation of the “Register of National Associations of Cities of Identity“ .

The initiative, the result of the Made in Italy law, represents a fundamental step to ensure the participation of agricultural sector operators in the strategic planning of interventions to promote and enhance territorial excellence.

The decree , published in the Official Journal, establishes the criteria for obtaining the designation of “City of Identity” and the procedures for registration in the Register.

This tool is intended to recognize and support municipal entities that stand out for the production of agricultural excellence closely linked to the territory.

The requirements to become a “City of Identity”

According to the decree, municipalities that satisfy certain criteria of agricultural and traditional excellence can aspire to the designation of “City of Identity”. Among these:
  • Production of DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) and IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) certified products ;
  • Organic farming and certifications such as SQNPI (National Quality System for Integrated Production), SQNZ (National Quality System for Livestock Farming), and SQNBA (National Organic and Environmental Quality System), with at least 30% of production certified;
  • Agricultural production with a consolidated tradition of at least 50 years , linked to environmental, historical and cultural values.
This Register not only places emphasis on quality production, but also on the landscape and associations that work to preserve and promote Italy's agricultural and cultural heritage.

A sign of attention towards agriculture and traditions

This tool will allow for more effective planning of interventions to support rural areas, while promoting collaboration between agricultural operators, institutions and local communities.

The initiative, in fact, is part of the national policies that aim to strengthen Made in Italy in the world, underlining the strategic role of agriculture in the valorization of territorial heritage and in the construction of a sustainable future.
