School transport: the new reference practice has been published

UNI has published UNI/PdR 144:2023 on the school transport service, developed as part of the collaboration between UNI and the Autonomous Province of Trento .

In fact, the protagonist of the new scheme is the safety and effectiveness of school transport for kindergarten, primary and lower secondary school pupils and pupils : the new guidelines will allow companies to offer a safe and quality service, taking into account numerous variables.

In addition to the essential safety requirements for this type of service, there are several aspects taken into consideration by the scheme, including environmental sustainability, inclusion and adaptability .

The green soul of the practice can be found in the indications for the planning and provision of the service to minimize the negative impacts on traffic and the environment , thus offering a sustainable and ecological service.

Inclusion and accessibility are mentioned in the good practices for the correct organization of transport for disabled people , which take into account the different needs and criteria for accessing transport.

Adaptability is instead found in the focus dedicated to the variables of the place in which the transport service is carried out : the practice, taking into account the diversity of the Italian territory, is in fact applicable in any context, since it takes into account the extension (municipal, supra-municipal, provincial), the different morphological conditions (for example: plain or mountain territory) or the degree of anthropization (urban territory or suburbs).
