The UNI ISO 45002:2023 voluntary UNI technical standard has been available since 1 June 2023, which provides guidance for the adoption, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of an occupational health and safety (OSH) management system according to UNI ISO 45001: 2018 .
The standard aims to help organizations comply with UNI ISO 45001:2018 and adopts in Italy the equivalent standard ISO 45002:2023 "Occupational health and safety management systems - General guidelines for the implementation of ISO 45001:2018".

Occupational safety management systems are tools capable of integrating health and safety protection into the company system , through organizational systems that guarantee the improvement of performance in terms of health and safety at work. There are many advantages for companies that adopt the systemic logic of health and safety management. In fact, the purely technical approach to prevention is overcome, thus favoring participatory management. The Consolidated Security Act, in article 30 of Legislative Decree 81/2008 expressly refers to the adoption of an organization and management model suitable to be effective in exempting the administrative liability of legal persons, companies and associations.Upon initial application, the company organization models defined in compliance with the UNI-INAIL Guidelines for an occupational health and safety management system (SGSL) of 28 September 2001 or with the British Standard OHSAS 18001:2007 , and consequently complying with UNI ISO 45001 , are presumed to comply with the requirements of article 30, for the corresponding parts.
