The initiative aims to create a structured system for the organization of local resources, promoting transparency and certification of the origin of products through the adoption of an advanced digital traceability system connected to an accessible online platform.
Certification and guarantee of origin
The starting point was the Certificate of conformity to the UNI EN ISO 22005 standard on the Traceability of agri-food supply chains , issued to the Agency for the Mediterranean, as project manager and coordinator, by CSQA .This certification attests to the "Sicilian Origin" of the products involved , strengthening consumer confidence.
Digital traceability and blockchain for a safe and transparent supply chain
Certified operators can take advantage of the digital traceability ecosystem "Valore Sicilia-Trust Food", developed by CSQA.This tool allows you to record and monitor every stage of production and distribution through a secure and shared digital system.
Blockchain technology is integrated into the process to ensure the immutability of recorded data , increasing security and reducing the risk of fraud.
Thanks to this innovation, all the information entered is verified and approved in real time , creating a reliable and transparent network for companies and consumers.
“Data management within the Valore Sicilia-Trust Food digital traceability system – underlines Michele Germanà, President of the Agency for the Mediterranean – increases the efficiency of information traceability along the supply chain, representing an added value for all operators."
Training and tools for businesses
CSQA has also prepared and made available a user manual for the digital traceability system and has organized training activities for operators in the sector. The goal is simple and clear: to make companies independent in the use of the tool , improving traceability management and competitiveness on the market.
Innovative Labeling and Digital Product Passport
The project also includes the testing of an innovative labelling system , which includes anti-counterfeiting labels equipped with QR Codes created by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (IPZS).By scanning the code, consumers can access the IPZS “Pass it” platform and consult the information on the Digital Passport, i.e. data on the traceability of the single product unit , as well as numerous information on the link with the territory, product characteristics, information on the company, the sensory description of the product, its peculiarities, together with the nutritional aspects.
The project also integrates perfectly with the "Passport of Taste", created in 2015 by the Agency for the Mediterranean, a tool appreciated for its added value in terms of guarantee and commercial appeal.
With the "Valore Sicilia" project, the Agency for the Mediterranean promotes a short supply chain , involving local businesses and enhancing the quality and origin of Sicilian agri-food excellence.
