BRCGS 9
A revision 9 of the BRC standard is underway and will be launched in August 2022.The review process helps keep the standard up to date with evolving expectations, regulatory requirements, and consumer needs.
The final version of the standard is now being drafted taking into account comments from a public consultation launched in January 2022, which gathered comments from national and international stakeholders representing food manufacturers, retailers, food service companies, brand owners, certification bodies and independent technical experts.
As with all revisions of the Global Standards, there must be a transition period between consultation, publication of the finalized and complete standard and full implementation. Therefore:
- version 9 will be released in August 2022
- certification against version 9 will start in audits from 1 February 2023.
IFS FOOD 8
Following consultations from the IFS Council and the ITC, the standard owner has decided to revise the IFS Food Standard. The revision is necessary to adapt the standard to the new Codex Alimentarius and the forthcoming ISO 22003-2.
It also allows you to consider the feedback from various stakeholders regarding version 7.
In addition to adapting to the Codex and ISO 22003-2, the new version will allow:
- reassign some requirements to stay closer to the audit trail,
- review the scoring system, especially the B-scoring,
- be more consistent in wording.
After discussing the results of this consultation in the IFS committees in June, the new checklist will be finalized and next steps planned.
