The Consortium for the Protection of Grana Padano has set up the register of fodder and feed suppliers for dairy cows for the production of PDO cheese . The initiative (called the “Albo Grana Padano Fodder and Animal Feed”) is carried out in collaboration with Assalzoo , the National Association of Zootechnical Food Producers, and will be presented today at a conference in Mantua.
The goal of the entire production chain, starting with the approximately 4,000 farmers who deliver the milk to the dairies, is to "guarantee the entire system starting from the feeding of
Grana Padano. The branding of cows producing milk destined for Grana Padano – underlines the president, Renato Zaghini -. We ensure compliance with the rigorous regulations in force which require at least 75% of the dry matter of the forage to come from the territory, thus guaranteeing the maintenance of the strong link with the production area even in the most difficult moments such as that of water shortage".

Despite the surveillance checks managed by the Control Body, the CSQA , errors regarding feeding are periodically recorded and can lead to the exclusion of the milk producer for 180 days. To avoid these problems, the Register aims at precise objectives, starting from the zeroing of the Non-Conformities of the power supply.
