The Consortium of Prosciutto di Parma DOP is preparing for the ecological transition and is aiming for the Made Green in Italy certification, developed by the Ministry of the Environment and certified by CSQA

In 2024, Prosciutto di Parma DOP suffered a 7.7% drop in the production of fresh legs, with an increase in export turnover of +5.3% . These are some numbers relating to the current situation of one of the flagship products of the heart of the Food Valley.

In addition to sales data, one of the Consortium's most important challenges concerns ecological transition , a theme at the center of one of the meetings of the " Green economy festival " program. Moderated by journalist Valentina Iorio, the debate focused on the " Ssda " software, the new tool created together with the Politecnico di Milano , which allows all the Consortium's companies to monitor their environmental impact.

The role of the Csqa body is also important , having chosen the starting standard to refer to in order to certify environmental sustainability. The choice fell on the national scheme «Made green in Italy » , developed by the Ministry of the Environment. «There is a significant proliferation of standards – commented Marco Omodei Sale, head of Innovation and Sustainability at Csqa – and therefore choosing the correct scheme is the right way to support a project like this».
