The busy Valtellina summer calendar is back, which combines the traditional tourist offer of villages, spas, nature and sport with events and activities for all tastes and ages. Starting from June, the many initiatives promoted for the summer of 2023 are joined by those promoted and organized by the members of the Consortium for the protection of Valtellina Casera and Bitto cheeses, who open the doors of their mountain pastures to let people discover and taste the two PDOs, immersed in nature and learning the trade of the cheesemaker. A series of initiatives that will continue throughout the summer up to the traditional October event with the traditional October appointment with the Bitto Exhibition.

The Consortium for the Protection of Bitto and Valtellina Casera Cheeses has been operating in the province of Sondrio since 1995 to defend the uniqueness of the two Valtellina DOP cheeses, protect them from any imitation and promote them on the national and international market. And it does so thanks to a series of scrupulous checks on the entire supply chain. The members of the Consortium, who belong to the two production chains, are 165 including breeders, producers and seasoners, small and large livestock farms, village dairies and modern dairies. Since 1996 Valtellina Casera and Bitto have achieved the DOP: their production follows precise rhythms, knowledge and rules dictated by the production regulations, to guarantee the origin and uniqueness of these cheeses. The certifying body to guarantee the consumer has been the CSQA since 1998.
