Mise, Blockchain, AI and Internet of Things Development Fund

From 21 September, at 10 am , companies and research centers will be able to submit applications to request funding from the Fund for the development of Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Internet of Things technologies and applications , set up at the Ministry of Economic Development with an initial budget of 45 million euros.

To facilitate the insertion of the documentation on the online platform dedicated to the measure, managed by Infratel Italia, a pre-compilation phase of the applications has also been foreseen starting from 10 am on 14 September .

Things

The Fund for the development of artificial intelligence, blockchain and internet of things technologies and applications was established by the 2019 budget law (Article 1, paragraph 226), with a total budget of 45 million euros. The criteria and methods for using the resources were defined with the interministerial decree of 6 December 2021 .

The terms and conditions for the presentation of applications for subsidies were established by directorial decree of 24 June 2022 , as well as the criteria for the granting and disbursement of subsidies.

Who is it for?

Eligible subjects are companies of any size , incorporated as a company and which carry out industrial activities for the production of goods and services, agro-industrial, artisan, transport, business services which carry out the aforementioned activities, as well as research centers with legal personality.

Large companies are eligible for subsidies only in the context of a project that provides for effective collaboration with the beneficiary small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Eligible entities may also submit projects jointly, up to a maximum number of five participants for each project.

The concessions are granted in the form of a contribution to expenses in compliance with the limits established by articles 25 and 29 of the GBER Regulation.

What does it finance

Projects involving the implementation of industrial research , experimental development , organization innovation and process innovation , aimed at supporting and developing artificial intelligence, blockchain and internet of things technologies and applications, in the following priority strategic sectors:
  • industry and manufacturing;
  • educational system;
  • agribusiness;
  • Health;
  • environment and infrastructure;
  • culture and tourism;
  • logistics and mobility;
  • security and information technologies;
  • aerospace.
For the purposes of eligibility for subsidies, projects must include eligible expenses and costs of no less than 500,000 and no more than 2 million euros.

Terms and conditions for submitting applications

The application for subsidy must be submitted, under penalty of invalidity and inadmissibility, exclusively electronically using the procedure available on the Infratel Italia website, via the platform dedicated to the initiative .

The directorial decree of 24 June provides for the opening of the subsidized intervention on 21 September 2022 , with the possibility of pre-loading the documentation required by the tender, starting from 14 September 2022.
