The ISO 9001 certification process of the Service & Work Social Cooperative of Ravenna , supporter of the TELLIS service, was successfully concluded.

TELLIS is a unique service in Italy, active throughout the national territory , which allows deaf people to communicate with hearing people , making and receiving phone calls , in total autonomy thanks to a video-interpreting app , which guarantees in particular the VRS service (Video Relay Service) for telephone calls from deaf to hearing people and vice versa and VRI service (Video Remote Interpreting) for welcoming deaf people on site.

The certification process was successfully completed thanks to the collaboration between Conforme srl, the system company of Confcooperative Romagna and the CSQA certification body.

«This certification demonstrates the quality of our service and supports the development of TELLIS with a view to continuous improvement - explains Marian Manea , deaf, president of the Service & Work Cooperative -. In particular, it confirms its quality both from the point of view of accessibility and innovation and from the point of view of privacy protection : a fundamental requirement to which unfortunately deaf people are often not accustomed. The platform we use, in fact, is GDPR compliant , uses professional interpreters and is cutting-edge, specialized in telecommunications and compliant with international standards for these types of services".

The certification process launched by the company specializing in compliance and corporate consultancy Conforme was based on a precise analysis of the processes that characterize the TELLIS service: «The peculiarities of the ISO 9001 certification process done for Service & Work are many - highlights Afro Stecchezzini, CEO of Conforme -. Firstly because it is a social cooperative that places the specific needs of deaf people at the center of its activities and, secondly, because TELLIS relies on a specialized platform compliant with international standards, which, in the case of Service & Work, has been adapted to European contractual and privacy terms.
We have built a process implementation path that goes in the direction of strengthening a service that represents a great opportunity for deaf people, confirmed by the CSQA certification ."

The service guarantees deaf people the ability to communicate with hearing people from the web page and via the TELLIS app, which can be downloaded free of charge for mobile phones, tablets and computers (iOS, Android, Windows, Macintosh operating systems), providing a video-interpreting service thanks to the availability - even without an appointment - of interpreters connected remotely, qualified professionals who translate from LIS (Italian Sign Language) to Italian and vice versa for deaf signers, but also through lip reading , text messages (chat) and other methods specific for deaf oralists (those who do not use LIS or do not know it), thus guaranteeing Total Conversation.

«For deaf people, the TELLIS service is very important and this is confirmed to us every day by the declarations of esteem from those who use it.
The truly fundamental aspect is the fact that it promotes accessibility, autonomy, overcoming communication and linguistic barriers, social sustainability and social innovation in favor of deaf people who, thanks to TELLIS, have the same opportunities as hearing people"
concludes Marian Manea.

Service & Work can count on the support and collaboration of the National Deaf Organization (ENS) Emilia-Romagna Regional Council, Confcooperative Romagna and numerous partner organizations and companies that have chosen to become accessible by guaranteeing the free TELLIS service for their employees and deaf customers/users.
