Created by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (Ispra), the GelSo platform (Local Management for Sustainability) is an environmental information tool that proposes an integrated approach to environmental sustainability starting from topics that represent points of reference for environmental policies on a local scale, such as the circular economy, smart cities and climate change .
GelSo aims to identify, evaluate and disseminate good sustainability practices implemented in Italy . Proposals for new good practices are selected on the basis of specific eligibility criteria .
The general requirements, for example, envisage that the project in question is implemented or in the process of being implemented, can be easily exported and repeatable in other local realities and has the quality objectives and targets adopted nationally and internationally, with particular reference to the 2030 Agenda.
The replicability criterion is very important because it allows those searching in the database or through the map to learn about experiences, active in the last five years, which contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives indicated by the European Union to accelerate the ecological transition and, at the same time, strengthen the resilience of the territories and promote social cohesion.
