The beach establishments in our country, which qualify as production sites within the tourism-recreational supply chain, are governed by national legislation.
In this context, certification was developed according to the UNI 11911 standard of 2023 "Beach establishments - Requirements and recommendations for carrying out the activity - Qualification elements" , which can now be requested by companies in the sector from bodies accredited by Accredia .
This certification can be referred to as a mandatory or rewarding requirement within the tenders for state concessions of maritime property, river areas, lake beaches and lake surfaces and appurtenances, since the standard also has the intention of providing a guide for support the training of international parameters in beach management and safety.
The advantages for beach operators
With certification according to the UNI 11911 standard, operators of beach establishments are supported in the adoption of behaviors and methods aimed at improving the quality of service , including safety on the beach , and the sustainable management of places through sustainable infrastructures, as well as developing a greater attention to cleaning and waste management.Operators can in fact enhance their activities and services towards customers under three main aspects , considered by the certification standard:
Governance , management, safety, skills, cleaning, maintenance and supply of bathing facilities
Main services such as reception, safety and well-being of bathers, as well as sanitation and clothing change services
Ancillary services such as swimming pool, provision of food and drinks, parking, recreational, wellness and surveillance services.
Certification in the tourism sector
In the tourism sector, accredited certification is now established as a practical tool of differentiation and, therefore, competitiveness for public and private organizations that can turn to accredited bodies. Some possible certifications:
Certification of accessible tourist and sports services : applicable according to the Reference Practice UNI/PdR 131 , concerns accommodation facilities, spas and bathing establishments, sports facilities that want to demonstrate accessibility to all users, also to enjoy tax breaks.
Certification of the sustainability management system for accommodation facilities : issued in accordance with the UNI ISO 21401 standard, it is applicable to any accommodation facility in the tourism sector that wants to strengthen its reputation and reliability in terms of its commercial offer.
Adventure tourism safety management system certification : applicable according to the ISO 21101 standard, it guarantees the necessary elements to ensure that an adventure trip is concretely and truly safe.
Certification of the sustainable event management system : issued according to the UNI ISO 20121 standard, it concerns the organization of events with minimal impact on the environment and the community, capable of contributing to strengthening relationships with all social components.
